txpom Posted November 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2009 I was curious if anyone had done this excursion? I found of price of $105pp to fly over the reefs, stingrays and along 7 mile beach. 20 minute flight. DH is not a strong swimmer and is not thrilled at the idea of one of the stingray tours. Would this be a good alternative or is there something else you might recommend?
morepower Posted November 24, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2009 We were thinking of taking a Heli tour in Mar 2010 and the ship tour was $160. I was wondering where you found the $105 price. Garry

Sargent_Schultz Posted December 9, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 9, 2009 You really don't have to be able to swim at all to do the stingrays - it is a sandbar. Spots may be over your head, but all boats have life jackets or vests available. If you get to the sandbar and decide you don't want to go in the water, nobody is going to make you and often they will bring a stingray up to the boat for you to see up close (more so on local tours). Having said that, the first time I went to Grand Cayman I flew over the island saw the tourist sights from the air. When I saw how beautiful the water was at the sandbar and how many people looked like they were having fun - then later hearing about it on the ship, I really regretted not doing the stingrays. I have since done the stingrays with several companies a number of times. Without a doubt, it is one of the best shore excursions anywhere, period.
