Hi there:

Thanks for your reply. We haven't seen many postings about the Carnival Triumph 12/12/09 Cruise either. I just keep re-posting and so far you are the only response. We're starting to get very excited about the Cruise.. Only 4 more weeks! Our first Cruise was last year to Mexico and we had a blast! We were still meeting new people all the way to the car at the end of our Cruise. Did you get good rooms? We booked way back in January and hopefully our room will be nice.

I think we're on the Lido deck, we really didn't know what to look for as far as room selection. We just wanted a higher floor, so lets hope it works out for us. Are ya'll planning any excursions? We have none planned other than to have lunch at Blue Heaven in Key West and cab it over to Atlantis. My partner Debra is the gambler, I love Poker, (the real kind) not video poker.

Any helpful hints as to things we shouldn't do without on our first cruise?

4 more days!

Hi there again! Great to hear from you again! One thing we learned on our first cruise was to read the daily Itinerary that they put in your Stateroom. It's called Carnival Capers and it lists all the days events, locations on the ship and the times of the events. We missed out on several free things on the Ship last year. (like a guided tour of our ship and kitchens) Your Carnival Caper should be in your Stateroom when you Board the Ship. When/if you eat in the formal dining room, don't be shy when they give you the menu.. order anything and everything you want as it's all included in your Boarding Price. On our first cruise we ordered a salad, an entree and one dessert, then we noticed other people ordering 2 & 3 of everything. They also usually have buffets set up if you choose not to go to the formal dining room. You will find food every where! We aren't hefty guys, but we love food! Make sure you wear your clown pants so you can eat more! hahaha

We did not book any excursions in Key West or Freeport. Our Travel Agent suggested that most everything in those 2 places are accessible by walking to the end of the Dock. We have booked the bus ride to Atlantis and will tour the Aquarium and Resort.

We'll look for you in the casino.. if you see us in the Casino, just come up and ask if we were on the Cruise Critic Website! Wish there was a way for us to communicate in private!

Geez, will Saturday ever get here! I hope we can find a way to say hello while we're all on vacation!

Where are ya'll coming from? We are in Metairie, about 15 min from the boat. We aren't big on any of the water things at Atlantis, but we love good food. We are hoping that we can get some local food or something unique at Atlantis. And of course check out their casino! Our friends went a few years ago and said you can take a cab for like 4 bucks, so I think that is how we'll get over there. You can email me if you'd like, theckenlady@yahoo.com. Can't wait to be on the boat!!!!!

My name is Maria by the way. Talk soon

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi there! We had a nice time on the 7 night Cruise to the Bahamas! We loved Key West and would loved to have stayed there longer. The Freeport stop was useless! A lot and I mean a Lot of passengers on our Cruise did not even get off the Ship the entire day while in Port at Freeport. Nassau was okay. Good Shopping in Nassau at the end of the Dock. We also did the Atlantis Excursion to the Aquarium. We broke away from the Tour Guide after 15 minutes and did our own thing and saw much more than we would have with the Tour Guide.

The Triump is an okay ship.. we met 3 other Gay couples on the Ship. The Friends of Dorothy meetings were listed on the Carnival Caper newspaper for each night in the California Wine Bar at 7:30 & 10:30 p.m. But no one ever showed up for any of these Happy Hours. The Bar was filled with all straight people (unless my Gaydar was broken)

Have you ever been on a Cruise? If it's your first, you wil love it!

It's my partner's first cruise, my third. I did an Atlantis event when I was younger and single. It was a fun time, but maybe a bit too gay. ;-)

Did Freeport or Nassau have any bars or restaurants off the ship? could we do a makeshift pub crawl?

We love Key West, and to be honest, the fact that it leaves out of New Orleans and hits Key West is why I booked the trip.

Does the Triumph have a sushi bar?

We'll probably hit the FOD meetings, but we are not expecting much.

Thanks!

Hello again...Yes, the Triumph has a Sushi bar called the Noodle Bar. It's located next to the bar adjacent to the Casino. We did not get off the Ship in Freeport. We walked around town in Nassau and found Starbucks..haha Did not notice any bars in Nassau.. it was all about shopping...lots of traffic If you find anything to purchase in Nassau, you can actually make an offer at most places.. We also took the Atlantis Excursion to visit the Aquarium. We broke away from the Aquarium tour and saw many more things such as..the beach..(saw some men in speedos).. only looked twice.. hahaha visited the Casino.. it took our money just like the Ships Casino...
