Use bus as tour?

Has anyone tried using the bus service to do a tour of the island? Have been to Grand Cayman a few times, and want to see some new sites and then to 7 Mile beach. Wanted to see Bodden town and maybe historic sites and wonder if bus service is good to get on and off in some locations?

Buses are actually mini-vans that accommodate about 10 passengers. They run frequently. If the driver sees you standing alongside the road, he will honk his horn and you can wave if you want him to stop for you. You can ask to get off anywhere. But you will be paying $2.50 each time you ride.

 

We rode the bus from the cruise ship pier to the Turtle Farm. Then we rode the bus to Cemetery Beach. And finally rode the bus back through downtown to the cruise ship pier.

Do they take U.S. currency? Is it 2.50 u.s. or do you need to exchange to their currency

We also used the public buses to get around last time we were there and it worked out great. They will take US money, but be sure to have exact change! When they get to your stop, just tell the driver. I understand the bus depot is now across the street and to the left of the cruise pier.

What bus do you take to the Turtle Farm and how long is the ride? Also does the bus run regularily and is it easy to catch one for the return trip back to the pier. Thanks
