My DW and I will be traveling on Monarch of the Seas over New Years and we were wondering if they do anything special on the ship?:) Also, can anyone tell me what we can do at Atlantis in Nassau on our own?

I sailed on the Monarch over New Year's when she was in CA, and the activities are the same as the rest of the ships in the fleet. On New Year's Eve, each bar will host a party with plenty of free champagne (if you want to call the 75 cents a bottle swill champagne). There will a big party in the Centrum with balloon drop and countdown. There's also a big party on the pool deck. The dining room has a special menu and you'll find hats and noise makers on the table when you arrive.

As for Atlantis, there's really not much you can do there on your own. Basically you are restricted to the hotel lobby, shops and casino. You can purchase a ticket to see the Aquarium, but I don't think it's worth the $$. Some people have reserved rooms at the Best Western in order to get full passes to the Atlantis pools etc. but I'm not sure of the cost.
