cw2go Posted December 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2009 I have been reading about and cannot seem to get a feel for what is at the pier once you unload the tendars. Can anyone who has been to GC tell me about the immediate area? We are planning a tour but would like to site see by foot before and after if possible. We've been to quite a few caribbean islands so if there is anything different that comes to mind that would be awesome. Thanks in advance:p Patty
kitcatsz Posted December 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2009 When you first step onto land, you will be overwhelmed by tour vendors and taxi drivers. And a lot of cruisers trying to find their tours. Looks crazy busy but manageable. Past the crowds and across the street are tons of shops waiting for you to make purchases. With the sea behind you, to the left is 7 mile beach. To the right, sunset beach. Edit: Depending on your tour length and ship docking time, I've always found no extra time to sight see and only about 15 minutes to shop. Many times, I've had to tour or shop, not both. Now, we just rent a car and do our own tour.
RizzoLee Posted December 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2009 Our first time, we did the Stingray City, Turtles & Hel tour. We did one of the earliest tours and were in the 8am-4pm. We had about 3 hours afterwards to shop/drink at Senor Frog's. :) To me, GC has a different feel than other islands - I suppose because it doesn't 'feel' 3rd world like other ports do, you can tell it's quite affluent.
