i hope someone can recomend a place for us, here are the details.

There will be 5 of us, myself my wife ( each 40), our 2 daughters 10 and 5 and my mother.

In the past my wife and i have stayed at the hilton on the water close to the edge of the french quarter ( not sure it is a hilton anymore), we liked this hotel but it was a bit of a walk to the french quarter.

We will be staying 2 nights pre cruise and one night post cruise.

We want a place in or close to the french quarter, nice hotel, but not dead in the middle of party central as we would like to sleep a little.

any recomendations would be great.

thanks in advance

I like Iberville Suites - will be there again in a couple of weeks. In the French Quarter, same building as Ritz Carlton and usually surprisingly affordable. A block from Bourbon Street but a world away from the noise.

Deanies Seafood is across the street for even closer food.

Hotels.com sometimes has better rates.

Both of the above recommendations are good ones. If you want to consider a B&B you might want to look at the Gentry House http://convoyant.com/resnexus/book/select.aspx?&ID=449&ResID=10891

Their big room (St. Ann) is perfect for 5 people. It's actually 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom. They do have a 2 day minimum, but Charlotte and Brian (the owners) are easy to work with. It is one of the few legal B&B's IN the French Quarter - off the beaten track, but close enough to walk just about anywhere you want.
