Worst casino experience ever. Never again on Carnival.

One of the advantages of using your shipyard is that you can basically get money from credit card ( one you use to pay your bill when you leave) with no fee. You could put up to $1500 a day on your slot account and $1500 on your poker account, and not play anything. End of cruise cash out and go home. If you have a card that earns points you just got them without buying anything.

So you know this will also stop soon!

Explain that please. I thought the points are from how much you aactually play? Example, I put 1000 on my card and I play a total of 500 including whatever wins, so I should get 500 pts right? The 500 left on card is not counted?

I quit using casino cards a while ago. Doing a lot better since. I don't want the casino to know who's playing. Having worked on computers for over 30 years I know what they can do. I basically just play craps now.

So not giving your card to a dealer at the craps table helps you win ;)

We all wish that could be true but is not

The casino really doesnt care whos playing and not giving your players card only guarantees that you will not get any offers or comps that you earned while playing.Casinos fight for business!!Giving your card though you can track your win/loss statement at the end of the year at tax time

I used to be a casino dealer and I gamble as well. The odds are always against us, however the comps are used to help get people into casinos on land based casinos because there are so many casinos. On the ship you kind of have no choice.

If you do not gamble - they win because you go to the bar and buy a drink or go shopping and the whole ship is an upsell.

If you go gamble - they win because your odds of winning is <40%

However if you are a low wager gambler (anything under $50 per hand) would not net you much of anything on a cruise ship. Players who bet under $50 a hand are dime a dozen. However they want to keep the high rollers coming back and those are who get the comps.

You said you bet 2-3x table minimum, if the table minimum was $5 as it is in most cruise casinos then you are not playing high enough. Most land base casinos on weekends have table minimums $15-20.

I personally dislike carnival, however their casino was the best part of their ship in my opinion. I was playing $100 minimum per hand w/ average bet at approximately $250. I walked into the casino everyone greeted me by name, I asked for a drink and servers came for me (comped by the casino). I also tipped the dealers and floor person (pit boss to some) as they are on a tipped salary. The consensus I have heard so far is $10/day + tips. As a casino dealer I used to make $4/hour in Atlantic City.

Hope this helps you and maybe shine a light in why you are expecting too much and giving to little.

I agree the casino staff really tries !! I am a big tipper and all the staff wants me to win because I always have them in my hand of BJ with a minimum of a red, as I win I put greens up for the dealers and bust chops to all the stiffs that its karma.People who play big (and $50 players are not a dime a dozen anywhere anymore Vegas and AC are not the only games in town anymore) should not have to ask for a beverage!!! As a person who has gambled over 10K on multiple cruises I should be comped my cabin. Some people travel for $399 pp for the week ,we pick our cabin ,pay more than most for the location we like ,gamble ,buy pictures and are not treated any differently. We love Carnival but our next cruise will be with NCL because it suits us better at the moment

When you first register when you first board you either give $1000 in cash,a credit or debit card.Gambling $500 does not mean 500 points.Points have a different value im not sure what Carnivals are but some casinos on land give 1 point for every $10 of coin in

I gamble but don't pick a cruise as the main venue to do it. If the intent is to spend the cruise at the tables one would be far better off heading to Vegas or Atlantic City where you have options. Don't like the bounce on a table, a particular dealer or the casino doesn't have your "lucky slot" than just walk down the street to one that suits your style. On the ship you still have two options though... theirs or none.

Patty the number of points depends on how much you play (on slots or video poker - how many "coins" and how many "spins" -- at tables = how much you bet). No matter how heavy you load your card, or how many chips you buy at the tables. In your example, the 500 dollars you played will contribute to the points, not the "unplayed" 500. And as mentioned, it is not 1 point per dollar. You can find out by asking casino personnel.

Good luck and shalom from Tel Aviv. Andy.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO pbuhle: Why don't you play craps? There are no shuffle machines. It is the only game in the Casino that pays true odds on some bets. Stay away from the others because it gives the House a big advantage. You could bet the Pass Line or the Don't Pass Line. You could play the Come or the Don't Come. You could make Place bets or Lay bets. Craps is truly a game of opposites.

BJ / Come, Don't Come / Lay Bets........

Sure we are talking about casinos, here ???:eek::D:o

The "points" he is referring to are the ones you can earn on certain credit cards to be turned into rewards later! Not the points from playing on the slots, those vary depending on which cruise line or land based casino.

I'll give you the land based Harrahs total rewards numbers which is used in all casinos. The difference is just how many coin ins equal one point

5$ coin in on slots = 1 base point

10$ coin on on video poker = 1 base point

1 base point = 1 reward credit

1 reward credit values at approx .10$

Coin in is only counted on what to "spin" not deposit

Example - 1$ wheel of fortune machine 3$ max bet

Deposit 100$ spin max bet 32 times and lose everything. Left with 4 = coin in 94 / 5 = 18.8 base points

Deposit 100$ spin max eat 32 times and lose everything. Spin 1 more time win 500$ And you leave. Coin on = 99 / 5 = 19.8 base points

Deposit 100$ spin max eat 32 times and lose everything. Spin 1 more time win 500$ And you play all of 500 you won plus remaining 1$ and end up losing it all. Coin in = 99 + 501 = total coin in 600 / 5 = 120 base credit. In this case Total rewards would give you $12 comps for next gaming day an maybe a free room for next month to get you back in the door.

In simple English. Don't play for credits / points. Play for fun and if you win yay. If not you had a great time. If the casino wants to give you something then lets just call it a bonus. Hope this helps.
