Land Tours in Belize and Cozumel

Will be sailing on the Sun in Feb. Is it better to book the tours through the ship or a private touring company? In Belize, I am trying to decide if I should book the Altun Ha tour by itself or include the Belize River as part of the package. My wife loves history, so I wouldn't want to shorten our Altun Ha visit because of the river ride. What's recommended in Coz? Finally, anyone know of some reputable and worthwhile tour companies in Belize and Cozumel? Thanks, bb

Not sure what tours are offered by NCL in Belize, but, we did the Laminai/New River trip thru Celebrity in Sept. It was WONDERFUL!!! If it offered by NCL I would definitly take it. The river "cruise" was fast and fun! We were allowed to climb the ruins and the view from the top of the large pyramid was amazing. We booked thru the cruise line, didn't want to get left at the pier if we got back late. Enjoy.

We were just in Belize last Friday on the Carnival Miracle, and we took the River Wallace and Altun Ha tour. It lasted about 5 hours and was like having two tours . . . very interesting. We were at Cozumel on Thursday. We had booked a Dolphin Encounter at Chankanaab Park online prior to the cruise. We caught a taxi on our own and had intentions of spending the day at the park. Because of a change in itinerary we did not spend the whole day there but we did the encounter and it was fantastic!
