torty Posted December 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2009 We are booked on the Sydney to Singapore sector of the P&O Arcadia World Cruise departing Sydney 24 February and have friends who would like to join us. Unsurprisingly, the cruise is fully booked but they have been told they can go on a wait list. Can anyone give advice on the probability of getting a cabin if they go on a waitlist. Johnthed0g Posted December 19, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2009 To be honest I can't say about the likelihood of a waitlist cabin, I don't think anyone really knows, but I do think they may well have to pay full price. Hope someone knows better. You could also try different travel agents, do you ask P&O direct? if so the cruise may not be sold out as other agents still have an allocation. Same thing if you asked one agent, another may have some cabins.
LibraLass41 Posted December 20, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 20, 2009 No doubt cabins will become available when final payment is due and some people 'drop out'....Its a lot of money to find and a long time away from home if people have sick parents/children so no doubt there will be quite a few cancelations? What do they charge when this happens? full price? the discounted price you would have paid had you booked it early? something else?
Merlin7 Posted December 27, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 27, 2009 With just 8 weeks to departue and final balances now having being paid the only way a wait list will come up trumps is by way of a last minute cancellation. We were offered the wait list option for a world cruise but declined when told that we could have as little as one day's notice of departure. Nobody could arrange all that needs to be arranged, including visas, vaccinations, currency, at such short notice, IMO.
