thesaintjim Posted December 29, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2009 Hi ya'll, We are taking a rccl cruise out of Rome in April, but we are booking the air. As goofy as this question may sound, it is United from SAT to IAD then Continental from IAD to Rome (FCO). Do we have to recheck our baggage once we get to IAD since we are going from United to Continental? I don't really want to mess with that as the only other flight that is all United only has seats in the last row... Thanks in advance, Jim

Continental have now joined as a "Star Alliance" member, so your baggage handling should be seamless. Another tip for you which will be worthwhile. If you are not a member of United Airlines FF program, "Mileage Plus", you can join up on line, (for free), and get mileage credits on your whole trip. Just remember to show/quote membership at check-in each time, (otherwise a hassle to chase up later) and you should accumalate some handy credits.. Have fun :D. Big Kev. . . So you probably can check all the way through to Rome. To be certain suggest you call United Customer Service .

Desert Cruizers Posted December 29, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 29, 2009 We are hoping to do a TA from Rome Oct 2011 and wonder if IAD might offer us a better connection out of LAX. In looking just now, we could get a flight from LAX to Heathrow then Rome for $1021 total. ( $361 pp + Tax @ $151 pp ). Happy New Year Sue & Jim and everyone.
