nastynan Posted December 29, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2009 We are looking for the best beach for swimming and drinking - snorkeling not important. Want to be close to port. Heard about Jolly Trolley to beach but don't know how to find it.

The Islander Posted December 30, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2009 Swimming and beach bar, close to port... you could try Fort Frederik Beach which you can walk to from the cruise dock however they don't have a bar, there is often someone set up selling snacks and drinks. If you want a bar then you could head to Rainbow Beach which is a short distance from the dock, and they have a bar/resturant on site: http://www.liminatrainbowbeach.com/. You could also try Coconuts, also very close: http://www.coconutsonthebeach-stx.com/review.htm. In the other direction from Frediksted but also very close you could go to Sandcastle, nice beach and the small hotel has a bar/resturant: http://www.sandcastleonthebeach.com/CruisePassengerBeachDayPass.cfm. The Jolly Trolley goes up and down the road that passes the above mentioned west end beaches around Frederiksted. You can get off at 4 or 5 beaches and it comes around often so you can beach/bar hop or just stay put for the day. Not sure if you can just come off the ship and buy a ticket for the Trolley right by the dock or if you have to buy the ticket on the ship. Hopefully someone else can fill in that information. --Islander
nastynan Posted December 31, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted December 31, 2009 Thanks Islander - Rainbow Beach sounds good. After many cruises we're just into hanging at the Beach for a few hours, relaxing and back to the ship for fun.
cruisecookie Posted January 27, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2010 We just cruised into St. Croix last Saturday, January 23, 2010. You must buy your tickets ($12 pp) for the Jolly Trolley on your ship. They do not sell the tickets on the dock. In fact, since not enough people purchased trolley tickets on our ship, the trolley was cancelled.
