Vests for snorkel excursions on Labadee

Six of us thinking of booking boat snorkel excursion on Labadee. Two of our party are not real strong swimmers but are willing to go and float around in the water while the rest snorkel. My question is. Are the "safety vests" which I presume are the inflatable with straw type so you can deflate to dive, buoyant enough when inflated to let them be comfortable floating? They are not to sure about having to tread water for an hour. We really want to stay together for the day but don't want them to be uncomfortable since they are not swimmers.
