ecpc1302 Posted January 2, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 2, 2010 We love the San Luis Resort, across the street from the beach, great pool area, ocean views, gym, spa. In the past, they've offered free cruise parking and shuttle to cruise. A nice place to stay a day or two before your cruise. Elsie:cool:
familycruzr Posted January 2, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 2, 2010 We stayed at the Harbor House. I don't know if it's reopened since Ike, but it was a great location. We were able to watch the ship sail into port in the morning. We drove our luggage over to the port and checked it, then took the cars back to the hotel and walked to the ship. It worked out very well.
stevewough Posted January 4, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2010 The Galleria area is a wonderful place to stay particularly if you don't have kids or are just looking for more adult entertainment. Its an urban area full of shopping and nice places to eat. Its about 50 miles from the port as is the City of Houston in general. In a very simple description the Galleria a modern urban shopping district and Galveston is an older family/budget oriented tourist area.If you are just looking for a place to sleep for a night I would certainly avoid the complication/expense of the Galleria.Your main expense is getting from the airport to the Galleria and then from the Galleria to Galveston. If your group will be entertaining the type of people who desire a "high class" atmosphere and price, then Galleria is your choice as they would not find that in Galveston.
