ardie42 Posted February 9, 2005 #26 Share Posted February 9, 2005 This movie was supposedly true but...could this couple or the dive operator have done anything else wrong??? I think that certain aspects of the story could have happened but it's really doubtful that so many things could have gone wrong in one dive. The couple didn't seem to check any gauges. You can only dive for so long depending on your depth. It is amazing that they stayed down so long that everyone was back on the boat and the boat was gone before they surfaced. And you can hear underwater. I am amazed that they didn't hear the boat motor. The whole thing was a bit unreal. Plus I wonder how long they had to chum to get the sharks to react that wildly??? ScottsSweetie Posted February 9, 2005 #27 Share Posted February 9, 2005 Okay, a little off topic here but . . . this reminds me of a recent event in metro Atlanta. We were having some severe weather, and one of the radio stations reported a tornado warning for a particular area, and then proceeded to play "How Far is Heaven" as their next song.
I&MsMom Posted February 9, 2005 #28 Share Posted February 9, 2005 Carmel: That is amazing! Almost the same thing happened to my son. I'm not sure that books about the Titanic are even appropriate for kindergarten and 1st grade, the only kids using this particular library... I can't even begin to tell you how many conversations we had about how things had changed in the intervening years, etc. What really seemed to reassure him was that there are no icebergs in the Caribbean (don't know what I'll do if we ever cruise to Alaska!!) We came home after the big snowstorm in the northeast in mid-Jan. and instead of a snowman, he made the Titantic. Yikes!
mikeymars Posted February 9, 2005 #29 Share Posted February 9, 2005 Watched it a bit (on mute) until the water turned red. Then I went up to the Lido deck for a cheeseburger. ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
crisp1 Posted February 9, 2005 #30 Share Posted February 9, 2005 I think they should bring back movies like Pirhana on cruises to central and south America, Earthquake for California stops. Outbreak would be another good choice, but never show a movie like Boat Trip ever again!
OC Mom Posted February 9, 2005 #31 Share Posted February 9, 2005 Does anyone know if the Valor has a movie theatre?
S.S.Oceanlover Posted February 9, 2005 #32 Share Posted February 9, 2005 when Titanic was out it was played 2 summers in a row on Carnival ships. One year after an excursion I wandered down to the showroom and they had it on a big screen. Bill

JrMafia90 Posted February 9, 2005 #34 Share Posted February 9, 2005 Just off the Miracle and LOVED everything about it! Just one thing though... Somebody sure has a strange sense of humor to decide to show the movie "Open Water" on a Western Caribbean cruise ship. This happened to be one of the free movies showing in the cabins throughout the week. For those of you that aren't aware, it is a movie about a very bad scuba diving experience. Hey Carnival, why not make it a triple feature of Open Water, Titanic, and The Poseidon Adventure!! That really is just to funny. I wouldn't of booked any scuba diving/snorkleing excursion if I saw that movie. When we did the shark/ray alley snorkel in Belize, I stayed by the guide the whole time. When he was counting the people he made a joke saying "Ok, we have 28 people I don't care if your not suppose to be on here just as long as we have 28," when we went to Mexico they played Man on Fire. That is about all the kidnappings that occur in Mexico.
JrMafia90 Posted February 9, 2005 #35 Share Posted February 9, 2005 Does anyone know if the Valor has a movie theatre? No it doesn't. I don't think any Carnival ship does. But in the show lounge they play movies. A lot of people attend it.
sgriff17 Posted February 9, 2005 #36 Share Posted February 9, 2005 I was thinking the same thing about them showing OPEN WATER on our Dec. 18th Triumph cruise....kind of an odd movie choice, especially with people GOING on diving excursions later in the week
Starlake666 Posted February 9, 2005 #37 Share Posted February 9, 2005 I'm pretty sure that movie "Open Water" was a true story.
Cruisin Dave Posted February 10, 2005 #38 Share Posted February 10, 2005 On our first cruise in October 2003, we had Pirates of the Carribean on in the cabins. Never saw more than a few minutes of this movie and then received it for Xmas. Then I finally finished seeing this movie. Dave
glrounds Posted February 10, 2005 #39 Share Posted February 10, 2005 The last time I cruised on the ELATION out of San Pedro doing the Mexican Riviera, TITANIC was shown on the last night at sea on a huge screen in the main showroom. Had a full house, too.
