Christmas Carousal

Just back from the Christmas cruise and what a mixed bag it was! The staff on board (apart from one server in the Island Restauant) were all lovely, happy, cheerful and couldn't do enough to help you. Waiters would remember your name and what drinks you usually ordered. Food was hot and plentiful. The entertainment - the pantomime, Strictly Cruise Dancing and the professional singers and dancers on the ship were really good. The downside - The weather (not their fault, but no additional entertainment put on to occupy the passageners). The age of the ship is really showing - from the awful toilet system - the leaking roof in the Beachcomber restaurant and on various levels throughout the ship. Water leaking into cabins on deck three, the smell of mould in a lot of the bathrooms. The loud creaking and crashing of the ship at night, the dirty tablecloths, bedlinen and towels (they have been washed, but the stains haven't been removed). The lack of entertainment/amusement for older children and finally the rudeness of the older passengers who really didn't want to share the boat with families! Needless to say we will not be back for a second cruise with this ship - it is not all bad, but the bad outweighs good by a considerable margin.:(

hi, we will not go back on IE , not in the state its in maybe if it had a total refurb, and they were doing good deals. We had to change cabins twice whilst on board, the second cabin smelt of urine, dont get me wrong the staff did there best but i was very dissapointed with a few things but like most people onboard we made the best of it, not much else you can do.

Amazing the difference a week makes. We had a great time. No real problems apart from the toilet blockage for 4 hours and the off white towels. And with 4 of us we had 2 cabins to examine and have potential problems. She's due for refurbishment at beginning of November.

I don't think we'll be aboard again either, but that's due to DW having had a taste for larger ships after the Royal Caribbean one in June.

Thomson destiny was in port with us in Civitavecchia in june and she looked so small alongside us.
