Anyone walked a little away from the pier to get a Taxi to West Bay?

Yes, we did back in October. We walked outside the fence of the port area and were hounded by drivers. Just make sure you only talk to one driver to make your deal or they will start fighting over you!! I believe we payed $40 round trip for four people. Our driver came back to get us a little early and sat at the bar to wait for us.

We also walked outside of the gates and ended up getting a local tour guide for the day. This boy was able to negotiate with the taxi drivers and get us a great rate to the West End. He spoke Spanish and knew who would give the deals and who wouldn't. We visited this island twice and ended up bumping into him the next trip also. It was interesting to hear his stories and have him show us around the island for the day.
