Perfect Stranger Posted January 7, 2010 #26 Share Posted January 7, 2010 After dinner it's back to jeans and comfy shoes for me.
chadci Posted January 7, 2010 Author #27 Share Posted January 7, 2010 I'm comfortable in kakis and jeans alike. If I have on kaki pants and a polo shirt I probably would not change. If I have on a suite or slacks / jacket.. no, I'm changing!
T. Advisor King Posted January 7, 2010 #28 Share Posted January 7, 2010 When you change, do you put shorts on or long pants? In summer in the Carribean would it be too cool in the evening for shorts? No, it should be warm. When we were on the Conquest last March I wore shorts all day, except when I had to dress up for the dining room, which I pretty much hated (the "dressing up", not the dining room). That said, some people are "cold" when it is 75 degrees out with a bit of a breeze, so it depends on where your comfort zone is.
T. Advisor King Posted January 7, 2010 #29 Share Posted January 7, 2010 It depends if the clothes fit. When some say they are uncomfortable, I read it as they have gained weight, and refuse to admit it, and are still trying to slip their rolls into something two sizes too small. Business/semi-formal/formal wear is, by its nature, uncomfortable. If you're a man wearing a suit, you're looking at hard-soled shoes, wool pants and a necktie cinched around your throat. Who came up with this stuff? It has nothing to do with whether the sizes are correct. I dress up because I basically feel like I have to. And as soon as that uncomfortable meal is over, I'm out of there to slip on the shorts and t-shirt. My vote would be to ditch the pretense of elegance and convert the dining rooms into something closer to a steakhouse/bar atmosphere.
cruisinbuddy Posted January 7, 2010 #30 Share Posted January 7, 2010 We stay dressed up all night. We don't dress up that often so we like to wear the "fancy duds" all night.
osiebosie Posted January 7, 2010 #31 Share Posted January 7, 2010 WEAR YOUR TIGHTEST CLOTHES AT THE FIRST OF THE CRUISE!! That's advice a friend gave me for our first cruise. Shay
mkissa Posted January 7, 2010 #32 Share Posted January 7, 2010 On our first cruise we stayed dressed up for the whole night and will definitely do it again this Saturday. I love getting all dolled up for the night, and my man looks great in a suit. Although he does skip the tie on the cruise since he wears one almost every day to work. VACATION IS MY LIFE Posted January 7, 2010 #34 Share Posted January 7, 2010 I personally like to stay in my tux all night. I love to order a martini (shaken not stirred) in my tux .... or playing in the casino. Makes me feel like James Bond for the night.:D And my wife (Bond girl) likes it too.;) I see a lot of comments about women taking off their "uncomfortable formal shoes". I know my formal shoes or just as comfortable as my other shoes. Don't they make "comfortable" formal ladies shoes?

macmax Posted January 7, 2010 #36 Share Posted January 7, 2010 We generally stay dressed up all evening...but hate it!!!! It's about time that ALL cruise lines copy the "resort casual" dress code, that Oceania, Azamara and others have. Imagine how that would lighten our luggage.;)
BlueC5Kitten Posted January 7, 2010 #37 Share Posted January 7, 2010 Depends on how elegant my elegant night attire is, honestly. Typically, I get dressed for dinner and stay like that through the after-dinner show...after that, I'm headed to bed anyway...in the REALLY comfy clothes! :D
ohitssunshine Posted January 8, 2010 #38 Share Posted January 8, 2010 I only have the one cruise to comment on, but I was outta that dress and into shorts as soon as the door closed! I do love getting dresses up, but I much more love being comfortable and somehow they never go hand in hand!
misguidedangel Posted January 8, 2010 #39 Share Posted January 8, 2010 I go back to my cabin after dinner and change into my shorts and tank top again!!!!! Sometimes I wear my capri, but it is so warm at night, I can get away with shorts and a tank top all day long!
zstell Posted January 8, 2010 #40 Share Posted January 8, 2010 When you change, do you put shorts on or long pants? In summer in the Carribean would it be too cool in the evening for shorts? If going to a show, I opt for pants as the showrooms can be cool for me. Otherwise, shorts should be comfortable.
