Mobile Mardi Gras Parade & Road into Cruise Port?

Mobile has Mari Gras Parades scheduled for Saturday Feb 13th. I know for a fact that they block off all roads around the cruise terminal parking before 11:00 am. How will this effect traffic into and out of the terminal?

Water street will not be blocked off. That is the street that the terminal is on. You can still get off the interstate at the Canal St. exit, as usual and hang a right at the bottom of the ramp. That is Water St. and will take you straight to the terminal. If you come from the north down I-165 just follow Water St. and stay to the right at the Exploreum musuem and follow it under the overpasses to the terminal. The directions on the terminal website and and Carnival's website still apply and will get you to the terminal with no problem. The biggest issue may be the tens of thousands of vehicles that will be trying to get off at the same exit as you are. Be really early or a bit later and the traffic probably won't be as bad. Between 9 and 11 will probably be the worst possible time to try to arrive. Traffic will back up onto the interstate and you will just sit for a long time. Just be patient and you will eventually get there. It may be frustrating, though, as you will be within sight of the ship. :) Just remember that 250,000 other people are in the same boat as you are!!

Thanks futaba951, I was in Mobile for the GMAC Bowl. The Bowl Parade was a Mardi Gras type parade, and the Police had Water Street blocked off under the overpass. Also, they are now using some of parking lot behind the Theater for Cruise "OverFlow" Parking. Manuvering around the Mardi Gras Parades on a Saturday morning is gonnna be hectic at best!

One thing for sure, DOD is not far away at that point.
