wildernesslady Posted January 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2010 We are staying one night pre-cruise at the Hyatt Place South. What are some good places to eat the night before. We should be at the hotel by 5:30. Thanks for any advice. We are excited to be staying at this new hotel.
royalcruz Posted January 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2010 You'll be directly across the street from Oakwood Plaza. The best restaurant in there is the Hollywood Ale House sports bar and restaurant. It is about a 6 block walk, as the restaurants (all chains) are in the south end of the plaza. There are fast food restaurants and a diner (not recommended) closer. If you feel like a night out, you are only a few miles away from Hard Rock hotel/casino/restaurants and from downtown Hollywood (Sage French restaurant is really good there). Some people like Rustic Inn, Tropical Acres, and Islamorada Fish Co., all under 2 miles away, but I'm not impressed.

The Ale House or Hard Rock will be fine with us. We aren't looking for anything too elaborate.
royalcruz Posted January 8, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 8, 2010 I don't have any information on the hotel. I didn't know it opened yet. The Hyatt Place by the cruiseport gets great reviews here, so I'm sure it will be fine.
Bella930 Posted January 9, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2010 Royalcruz, We're staying at the Hyatt Place Airport North on the Friday before our cruise (Priceline). We're getting in late so will probably be hungry, is there anyplace within walking distance that you would recommend. We certainly don't want fancy, just need fuel if you know what I mean. Also, as we are sailing on HAL and can bring our own wine on board we were hoping there would be a wine/liquor store nearby that we could hit on Saturday morning. Any suggestions? Thanks! Total Wine is in the Harbor Shops and it is the best, one block away. Also in the Harbor Shops is Grumpy Gators for basic food, and Carlos and Pepe's Mexican is a block away on 17th St. east of Embassy Suites. Across 17th St is an Irish Pub Waxy O'Conner's that has a basic late night menu (good burgers, fries, chicken fingers, etc).
