What's a FUNHUB?

I was just wondering if someone could explain to me what exactly a "funhub account" is. I read it in a review and had no clue what it is. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

My take...

 

FunHub is Carnival's buzzword for social networking. An on-ship Facebook and forum type of deal combined with an intranet listing of activities and such. Included in the price of your cruise.

 

For an extra charge (not cheap), you can access the Internet from any of the same terminals.

So what you're saying is that it's a way to distract me from enjoying all the fun activities (including meeting new people) while on board, by sitting on a computer meeting people that are on board? Huh. Interesting

Yes and No. It can be a way to keep in touch with those you meet on board and/or if you are with are group, it can be a way to keep in touch with them.

FunHubs are physical locations scattered about the ship. They provide both internet access and the ability to use Carnival's unique version of social networking.

 

There's 36 access points (terminals...) and 40 portable access points (netbooks...) that are available for use.

What's really neat about the concept is that anyone who has WIFI access can use the Fun Hub system internally on the ship for no charge. You can leave notes for friends or family member to tweak your schedule or just use it to make friends much the way folks do on Face Book or those types of things.

When you sail on your Carnival Dream try it out! It's a very underused feature.

it's a computer station that anyone can access without a fee for "local" info & leaving messages. To get on the internet a package of minutes (funhub acct) needs to be bought. The stations are scattered around the ship & are very handy for free weather & activities.
