Playa Rincon with Casa Dorado

Geobugs

Recommended Posts

We visited Samana, DR on the NCL Dawn on 01/03/10. We had twenty cruise critics in our group. We boarded two taxis to Las Galeras. The ride was through the heart of the Dominican Republic towns on the peninsula. Once at Las Galeras we boarded two motor boats and road to Playa Rincon. We arranged a pickup from the beach and return to the taxis at Las Galeras and arrived back in port an hour before the last tender. The cost is $300 for up to 10 people. We spent 3 hours on the beach.

The good stuff...

Playa Rincon is an incredibly beautiful beach, top rated according to Conde Nast, and a major highlight of our cruise. When we return to DR we will play to go again. The weather was a little overcast, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. No hotels or resorts in sight, just pure unadulterated beach.

The bad stuff...

The shopping is far from the tender dock and not much to see in Samana.

Thanks Catherine DeLaura for an excellent tour.

Any questions?

I read that the rode was suppose to be rebuild. Is that has taking place or the rode is still rough? if yes, how much time to get to the beach.

Are you going to do your review? I'm kind of hoping for the video you write about.

We were in Geobugs group to Playa Rincon. A beautiful beach indeed.

We talked with others on the ship we had seen on the beach. Our ride was 30-40 min taxi ride and a 10 min boat ride. They took a taxi all the way which took 1 1/2 hrs each way. They said it was awful...the last half was worse than the first. They paid 20.00 each vs our 30.00. They said you couldn't pay them to repeat that trip ever again.

So, no - I guess the road has not been repaired...it was very bumpy all the way.
