there's not a lot of movement and the balcony is bigger and partially covered. We use it a lot. About that pelican- seems someone must have left a bit of booze out and the bird celebrated new years eve a bit early. That must have been a sight. We did have to move all our furniture inside once when they had a medivac helicopter land to remove a person.

I may be in the minority. I had an aft cabin for the first time on the Noordam last year. A really nice cabin with a big balcony. Not a corner, but no obstruction and plenty of room.

 

I thought we'd love the aft cabin experience. We didn't, but I'm glad we tried it anyway. You should too.

I'm in your minority. Unless I was right at the railing, all our first (and hopefully last) stern cabin had was a cone view of ships and islands long since passed. Like you I missed being able to see port arrivals and departures. The only redeeming feature IMO was that it was deep enough to have a lounger.
