Things to do on Islands in the Bahamas

Recommended Posts

From Ireland, we know very little about Paradise Island or any of the most beautiful beaches on the cruise islands!! Could anyone enlighten us as to what are the best beaches? We're goin on 22nd of February for a 4 day cruise with RCI and our two stops are Nassau and Cococay? We would love to go to a beach with breathtaking clear blue water and fabalous beaches (maybe all of the islands have this, certainly Ireland doesnt!!!!) Any suggestions as to how we get to see this?:o

Slan!

Hi- We have done this itinerary. CocoCay is a private island with all you need for an very fine beach day.

Nassau has many choices of activities and we've been to several areas there. Our favorite beach place, to date, is the Sheraton on Cable Beach where the beach is nice and there are good pools and good amenities.

Have been to Atlantis on Paradise Island twice. We are beach people and swimmers and found the ocean beach there to be too rough. It is beautiful, but often rough. The pools at Atlantis look like fun and you can take an excursion or get a day pass (at the Comfort Inn) to use the Atlantis pools -if you like huge water parks.

Thank you - we just like to laze about the beach so i think maybe Cable Beach might be the best option? So we can just pick up a cab from the port, is it far? Apologies for all the questions, ive been to the Atlantis before but my two friends are coming with me this time and they are sun mad as we dont see any in Ireland and like to soak up the rays when we travel!!!!!:)

In Nassau, people tend to opt for Atlantis as there is more to it than just the beach.

Coco Cay is a pretty little island. The part near where the tenders dock is well developed with bars, places to eat, music, a beach, deck chairs, and various water sport attractions. If you walk along the beach however, the beach becomes more and more deserted. You lose the crowd but it is still pretty.

We have been to Nassau several times. We have done tours of the island, gone to Blue Lagoon, walked around, taken the water taxi to Pasradise Island and gone to the Atltantis. We booked at room with Comfort Suites to use the Atlantis. We booked Blue Lagoon with the cruiseline. The Island tour was a free excursion with the online TA we used.

Coco Cay is fun. We wasted money on the blow up slides. I say that because once it gets busy there's a very long line and we choose not to wait in the line. We have rode the jet ski/Seadoo excursion. Now that was a load of fun. lol We were out there with 8-10 ft waves.

Both islands have great beaches....all of the 700+ islands in the Bahamas do. While not representative of the best in the Bahamas, both CocoCay and Nassau/Paradise Island have very nice beaches that you will enjoy.

Hi- We took a van cab from the Festival Place for $5 pp to the Sheraton. There are many vans parked in that area. You just wait for the van to fill up. We took the Jitney Bus back to the ship- it stops right in front of the Sheraton. Just ask at the desk. Or you can have them call a cab.
