gibbsgirl Posted January 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2010 Wondering if the Mercury has a true walkaround Promenade Deck? I know older ships used to have them. Love to take a stroll after breakfast.
Druke I Posted January 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2010 No full promenade on Mercury.
tom_uk Posted January 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2010 You can get three-quarters, even four-fifths of the way round: along one side towards the stern, then up a level and around the stern (still on an open promenade) and then down a level on the other side. But there is no open promenade, nor even a 'tunnel walkthrough', at the bow end. Promenades I have known and enjoyed: the best overall was probably on Oriana. Fred Olsen's Braemar was pretty good as well, just really tiny (like the whole ship). Best bow section was Ventura, which (like all Grand Princess-class ships) allows access to the very point of the bow. The only drawback on the Grand Princess-class ships is that you have go up a level to get to the bows; it's not same-level promenade. The level-change is out-of-doors, however; you don't have to go back into the superstructure. All of these were much better then the 'promenade' on the Solstice, which is very disappointing: just a passage-way on each side giving access to the boats, with almost completely-obstructed views, and no bow or stern passages. gibbsgirl Posted January 19, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted January 19, 2010 Thanks for all your valuable info......sorry to hear that we can't go all the way around, but guess we'll have to settle for what we can get! It's such a wonderful feature, but I guess it's not a "revenue producing" feature so it's been eliminated from most of the newer ships.....so sad...... jgnova Posted January 20, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 20, 2010 Depending how busy it is, you can always use the running track up top for a walk but be careful not to get run over, of course. S

Not recommended for an after even stroll if the ship is underway.
