Does any know how much is the Taxi fare from the PV Marina to Mismaloya? Do you know how far it is? We want to do an excursion but, I don't know if we'll get there on time. We have to be there by 11am Thanks for your input =)

Hi Daniela,

It is roughly 11 miles from the port (marine terminal) to Mismaloya, Four people, in a yellow city taxi, should be around 180 pesos and not more than 200 pesos. If you plan to pay in USD's, most taxi driver only offer a 10-to-1 exchange rate (so $18 USD to $20 USD).

I see you are on Splendor. The ship is scheduled to arrive at 9 AM local (8 AM ship's time). Travel time will be roughly 45-60 minutes. You shouldn't have a problem getting there in two hours.

It isn't normal for most excursions to start in Mismaloya. What excursion are you thinking of doing?

Also, just a minor thing, but the ship doesn't dock at the PV Marina. It docks at the Marine Terminal (aka port or cruise ship dock). The Marina is nearby but is a different location. If you tell a taxi driver that you want to go to the marina, you'll be looking at you ship from a mile+ away.

Here is a site with good maps - http://vallartainfo.com/map.html

Enjoy!

Hello and thank you so much for your help! Also thank you for clarifying the port. =) We’re going snorkeling at Los Arcos. The pickup will be at La Jolla de Mismaloya Hotel. Do they sell packages off the boat at the Marine Terminal that will take us snorkeling? The reasons we’re going this route is because it’s cheaper, I heard that if you wait to book an excursion when you arrive at PV they can sell out, also we want to do other touring around PV and we don’t want to be tied down to a group. We’re bringing our 9 year old and my 2 ½ year old. My husband and I are going to take turns snorkeling while one of us stays behind with our toddler.

If you don’t mind me asking what is your favorite restaurant in PV?

Vallarta is a foody's paradise. You can find everything from pub grub on the beach to five-star gourmet overlooking the city. What type food are you looking for and what meal?

Can you get a little more specific on that snorkeling excursion out of Mismaloya? Is this a regular advertised excursion or some guy you heard about that will take you out on his boat? Who is the tour operator and how did you book the excursion?

Ha ha I prefer the pub grub =) Some good o’l homemade Mexican food

I haven’t booked it yet because I want to make sure we will be there on time. These are 2 companies that I’m considering

I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling for Marina Mismaloya. They appear to have been bought out by Discover Vallarta. The link you gave has no tour times or pricing information. I did find an older web page that has that info - http://www.marinamismaloya.com/scuba-diving/snorkeling.htm If the info is still good, they only appear to offer a 9 AM and a 1 PM trip to Los Arcos. I don't know how that 1 PM time works into your schedule.

I suspect the tour offered thru Puerto Vallarta Tours will work better for you. The are a reputable tour broker. I would contact them ASAP to find out where that 10 AM tour leaves from. It could save you a chunk of taxi fare all the way to Mismaloya `n back.

One of our favorite beach spots is located in old town. Burros Bar - http://www.mexonline.com/burros.htm Their food has been consistantly good, with moderate pricing and laid back slow service. Reference this map of the south side - http://vallartainfo.com/south.html Locate Roberto's Silver on the beach end of Lazaro Cardenas Park. Burros Bar is located just north of Roberto's across from Plaza Mar.

Enjoy!

Las Animas is only accessible by water taxi. The closer you get by (land) taxi or bus, the cheaper the water taxi fare will be. You can water taxi from Los Muertos (downtown PV), Mismaloya, or Boca de Tomatlan - the fare getting cheaper as you get closer to your ultimate destination.

Hello it’s me again =)

I have another question what is the best way to get to beach La Animas from the marine terminal? Thank you =)

You really are interested in out-of-the-way locations. Playa Las Animas is located on the south shore of Banderas Bay and can be reached via water taxi or excursion boat.

A map of the bay can be found at http://vallartainfo.com/puerto_vallarta_maps.html

Water taxi information can also be found on that web site.

Information and photo's can be found at http://www.banderasnews.com/vallarta-photos/south-coast-las-animas.htm

Good Luck ....
