San Juan Taxi Costs/Times

Does anyone know how long it takes from the Caribe Hilton to the ship and how much it costs ? and how long it takes to get to the Plaza Americas shopping mall and how much it costs ??

how 'available' are they - how hard is it to get a taxi from different places like your hotel vs. on the street in OSJ etc.

Taxi from Caribe Hilton is easy. The bell hop will call one for you from the line in front of the hotel. The cost from Hotel to ship is maybe $20 - $25 including tip. Time about 10 minutes. Very easy!

is it about the same distance and cost from the Marriot Solaris to the pier where the Millenium departs. How about the cost from the airport to the Marriot?

Old San Juan to ???

Taxi could be spotty as they will not venture in there unless to drop a passanger at a ship.

 

The streets are too narrow to allow free movement - unless it's up to the fort - but do not try it going into the town area near the port. There was a lot of road work there two weeks ago and it did not look like it will be finished soon.

 

Best bet to get taxi out of old san juan is near the pier area and the streets across from it.

I don't know about the Caribe Hilton, but it cost us $24 each way for a taxi ride between the Pan American pier and the airport. (Flat rate, told price in advance.) The ride each way took about 20 minutes, although they said to allow half-an-hour. Guess it just depends on traffic at the time you go.

 

There were lots of taxis lined up at the pier when we disembarked from the ship, and we noticed more taxis coming in as we were heading out.

If you google taxi rates in San Juan you will get a map and prices per region. They are fixed so not to worry. We were at the Marriott Isla Verde and the airport ride to the hotel was $ 10.00 plus $ 1.00 per bag. The cost from the hotel to the Pan American pier was $ 12.00 plus $ 1.00 per bag.
