flagger Posted January 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2010 I am going to St. Maarten next month and our arrival shows to be at 8AM. We booked with Captain Alan and the confirmation says to meet at 8:15. Will we have enough time to get to the meeting place at the shopping area at the port? Will the ship's time move an hour ahead to be on St. Maarten time? Thanks
ScubaTurtle Posted January 26, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2010 St. Maarten does not do daylights savings. So during the summer months the island is on the same time zone as the east coast of USA. However, during the winter months you have to add one hour to EST to make St. Maarten time. It is a bit confusing because some of the ships run on EST while others change to ships time. It isn't even the line that chooses this, it differs by ship in the line. There is no way to answer your question without knowing when you are coming and on what ship. It's best for you to ask Captain Alan directly. sunseeker09 Posted January 26, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 26, 2010 We were on the Victory, and since it leaves out of San Juan, we never changed our time. We were in port at 7:00 and very easily made it to meet the driver at 8:15 to get to the marina for the Capt. Alan tour. The place you meet is only a couple minutes walk from the ship.
