I have a question regarding hotels in Ft.Lauderdale; we'll be there in april for 2 days pre-cruise & 1 day post cruise; We're looking for an economical hotel offering shuttle service to airport/cruiseport and close to amentities; any suggestions? also, anyone here have any advice on using hotwire.com to obtain their hotel booking? we've never used a service like this and am a bit nervous of booking a hotel offered at low-cut prices without knowing first the hotel name. how risky is this & what are your chances of getting a dive? what if you're not happy with the hotel they pick for you? can you cancel? Thanks for any advice you can give us; we're first time cruisers and any and all help is appreciated.

La Quinta Hollywood/Airport meets your specs.

Hotwire is a good program, research Priceline also. Pick 3* or better to avoid a dive. Once you commit you cannot cancel. Go to betterbidding.com for details on areas and likely choices for both sites.

Using Priceline to bid or Hotwire to take the mystery hotels, won't give you a bad hotel if you sitck to 3.5 star and above. You need to familiarize yourself witht he area however, so you get a hotel inthe area you prefer.

There is much to be know before bidding on Priceline. Hotwire is easy. Pick a star rating in a particular area from their list of offereings. Then go to betterbidding.com and find the Hot Wire LIST OF HOTELS for ft. L and match the amenities offered. You'll narrow down your possible hotels.
