Happy ks Posted February 7, 2010 #26 Share Posted February 7, 2010 I realise what they are for but that's how I feel about them, I also think they are often an excuse to say something a bit unpleasant & get away with it. I used to avoid them, but there seem to be people on message boards who don't get it and make an erroneous assumptions of others. Too many sensitive people in the world. Also, easier to post that LOL, OMG, etc... My posts tend to get too wordy because I don't want to offend anyone, people don't always read carefully or will judge without considering sense of humor. So the emoticons help.
CookiePuss Posted June 24, 2010 #27 Share Posted June 24, 2010 I'm very glad you asked this question. Using initials just leaves too much to the imagination!!! LOL
MissRabbit Posted June 24, 2010 #28 Share Posted June 24, 2010 i have NFI what NFI means *grin* i don't like DD, DH, DS etc because in real life, i don't call them "dear". So my husband is my husband (or Rabhubs as i'm Rabbit) and that's it. The only abbreviation in that dep't i use is MIL and FIL because it takes too stinkin long to type out Mother-in-law. The things that annoy me to no end are txt speak. how r u? c u l8tr. it doesn't take any longer to type "you" than it does to go against the ingrained desire to spell y-o-u, in order to spell just the U. Text messaging i get, cause of the character count, but not when typing on a keyboard.
