DW and I took ferry to St. John and hung at Cinnamon Bay on our first trip. This trip we would like to take it easy and hit a beach on St. Thomas but is there one that even comes close. We would like to hang on the beach maybee come back to the ship and change and than do some shopping. Any suggestions ?

Cinnamon is part of the National Park, and there isn't a National Park beach on St Thomas. The closest St John vibe to St Thomas is Water Island's Honeymoon Beach, I guess, but it doesn't have as good a snorkeling environment as Cinnamon. It is a nice, white sand, usually uncrowded beach with calm water.

Depending on where you dock, you can either take a cab ($5?) or walk (from Crown Bay) to the ferry to Water Island, take the short walk to the beach, and there you are. Food and drinks don't usually show up until maybe 11:30 or so, but you can take your own if you stop at Gourmet Gallery near the Water Island ferry dock. The RT ferry is $10.

An alternative may be Emerald Beach/Lindbergh Bay on St Thomas. It's closer to the cruise ship docks than St John, and there are restaurants and bars should you get hungry/thirsty. There's also a concession that rents chairs and water toys. Again, not great snorkeling, but there's always something in the water! It's gotten pretty good reviews from other cruisers.
