We will be on the next trip of theSojourn August8-22 Norwegian Fjords and Scotland.Has anybody else booked? The ports sound great.Any advice from you experts? Some of the Norwegian ports are Aalesund,Olden,Flam and Bergen. The Scottish include Invergordon,Leith, and both the Orkney and Shetland Islands. Have been on the Legend last year and loved it. Do you think the kinks will have been worked out of the Soujourn by the time we board. THanks?

I wouldn't bother with a tour. Just grab a taxi up to the Old Town. Start at the top with visiting the castle and then walk down the Royal Mile to St. Giles Cathedral and on to the Palace of Holyrood House. There is also plenty of shopping on Princes St. and, if you have time, a visit to the New Town is well worth it. Invergordon is well positioned for visits to the Highlands. Unless you want to rent a car, I would suggest a tour here and the advertised ones look quite interesting. Avoid Inverness (just not that interesting) Hope this is of help

stevefrankel Posted April 6, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 6, 2010 We will be on the next trip of theSojourn August8-22 Norwegian Fjords and Scotland.Has anybody else booked? We too will be on this voyage, we booked today. Lots of high-end cruising experience, but never on Seabourn. We're really looking forward to this cruise! If there's anyone else on board that likes good restaurants and wine shore excursions and great photo opportunities, please let us know -- particularly if you would want to share a van or car in some ports where it's worthwhile. In the meantime 3 questions for our more experienced Seabourn cruisers: 1) Is a sports coat and open shirt acceptable for evening dining? Can I get away with just adding a tie on "formal nights?" 2) What's the cost of internet if you're using your own netbook from your cabin or a public area? 3) What's the average cost of 1/2 and full-day tours in smaller ports? Looking forward to getting some substantive answers to any of these questions -- you don't have to answer all of them! Thanks.
margbem Posted April 6, 2010 #7 Share Posted April 6, 2010 Another idea for Leith is a tour of the Royal Yacht Britannia - well worth a visit. Internet was $9.99 for 60 minutes. There were other packages but we bought 2 of these and it was fine for a week's cruise. A sports coat with no tie is OK but not on formal night - most men wore dark suits or tuxes but you could eat in Restaurant 2 instead which is more relaxed, dress-wise. Or you can eat in your suite, course by course, using exactly the same menu as the dining room. Hope this helps.

The internet charge is downright inexpensive and the sport coat info is also great. I guess I will also bring a business suit; trucking my tux is just too much of a bother. Also, the yacht tour seems great!
