Good Places to Eat! Galveston

Recommended Posts

We are going to stay at Hotel Galvez without a car. We are taking a shuttle from the airport and will be carless (is that a word?). I have heard about several good restaurants. I would like something either southern or sea food.

But, I need to either be able to walk or Taxi there. And I do not know if using a taxi is feasable.

I would like to go to Mosquito Cafe, but probably too far away.

So, is using a taxi a reliable/reasonable way to get across town or am I better off just walking to some place nearby? I realize this question has probably :D been asked but I couldn't find the thread.

Thank you!

Others have commented about restaurants, but I'd like to say that getting around Galveston via taxi is very doable. We flew (usually drive) to Galveston last month for our cruise and used a taxi for the weekend. My husband wasn't too keen on doing this at first, but we used one driver the whole weekend and it was great! He gave us his cell # and when we were ready to go he was usually not far away. We have always used Tropical Taxi, but there are other taxi services too. It worked great for us!

Thank you! This was very helpful!

It's great to have people who know about an area. I've never been to Galveston, so this is very helpful.

:D
