rickcop44 Posted February 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2010 I've heard the trolley is free. Does it run on Sundays? We'll be staying at the Howard Johnson's Plaza de Armas on February 13 and have heard there is a trolley stop right by the hotel (trolley stop number 8) and it'll drop us off right at pier 4 (trolley stop number one). Can someone confirm this? Thanks!
dvan68 Posted February 1, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2010 I know that you cannot take luggage on the buses in San Juan - definitely do some research on that - if they let you bring it on the trolley. It does run on Sundays.

A Google search for "old san juan trolley map" will get you more info.
rickcop44 Posted February 2, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted February 2, 2010 Thank you Ray. Is it true that you can't take luggage on the trolley? That seems a bit overbearing (unless they just want the local citizens using it and no one else and I can't believe that).
RayInPR Posted February 3, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 3, 2010 The trolleys really don't have any place to put luggage ... unless you want to keep it on your lap.
rickcop44 Posted February 3, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted February 3, 2010 That's what I suspected. I know the trolleys can get crowded on Saturdays and Sundays, but we're only going to have two carry on size pieces of luggage. Shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for your help. Last time we did a ships tour of the island and enjoyed that , now I want to see more of the forts and old town. Thanks again. Cori
seashinesunshine Posted February 7, 2010 #8 Share Posted February 7, 2010 Like others said it does run on Sundays, there is no room for luggage, we took the hard road and walked with our luggage, not too bad of a walk. One great thing to do on Sundays in OSJ is to go the the grassy area between the forts (trolley ride) and watch the famlies flying kites. It is so fun and the local people go there every Sunday to fly kites.

KatieMcGee Posted February 13, 2010 #10 Share Posted February 13, 2010 We're staying at the same hotel 2/27. Let us know how it is. We are wondering about where to buy alcohol near the hotel before we board the ship. Any ideas? katie
