Was told by Anne Gordon that she is not allowed to go there.
daZboys Posted February 4, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2010 I'm not 100% sure, but I thought that Cristobal was the name of the port in Colon. They are right next to each other. I was just in Panama in Dec and used My Friend Mario for our tour.
BillB48 Posted February 4, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 4, 2010 Cristobal/Colon is the basically the same place. The difference is the Cristobal piers are on the west side of the city, while the Colon 2000 facility is directly across Colon on the east side. Not a huge distance maybe a couple of miles but not anywhere you would want to venture without a tour or at least a Taxi. I have read on this board that the Cristobal piers are generally not open to the public, but I don't know with any certainty if that applies to all tour operators. The pier in Cristobal has a nice vendor area right on the pier, other than that the facility is a container port. The Colon 2000 on the other hand is exclusively for cruise ships. Sorry, can't answer the OP's question with any direct knowledge.
cherdon Posted February 10, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2010 Last year we took a unique tour. We walked out of the shopping area and hired a man and woman with a motorcycle/cart. "Daniel's Motorcycle Tour" He drove and she sat in back with us and pointed out the various sights. It was great the roads were bumpy and the motorcycle was able to dodge the potholes! We asked them to take us to a restaurant that would have local cuisine. We got a little to go box and coconut rice is now one of our favorite things. I also saw you had a question about veragua. We went there it was wonderful. We went with Oscar Brown tours. We were really happy to be with him in a small van. The large buses from the ship tours had to turn around on a narrow spot and return to the ship. Those passengers were frightened and never got the tour. camofwilliamsburg Posted March 2, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted March 2, 2010 Thanks for the info on Costa Rica too. What did you do in Veragua? Seems like you just walk around the place like it is a zoo with the exhibits???
