chorder Posted January 19, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2005 I have booked a balcony room along with my wife for the first time and have heard the term just before or just after the "hump" of the ship what does this mean? thanx
sally r Posted January 19, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2005 It (the hump or bump) is the widest part of the ship where the central elevator banks are.
PTarbay Posted January 19, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2005 If you look at the deck plans in the middle of the ship it comes out like a semi circle and looks like a hump or bump.
Morgan32 Posted January 19, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2005 For our March Mariner cruise, we booked a room (6320) at the furthest part of the hump that sticks out (the end of the hump?). Reading this board clued me in to the possibility that if your room is on the hump, but not at the furthest-out point, your balcony may not be all that private:) Supposedly, the 2 rooms at the end of the hump give you a nice view up and down the ship and of the sea. I can't wait to see for myself:D

Travelgrrl Posted January 21, 2005 #9 Share Posted January 21, 2005 Rick: We have had snowstorm after snowstorm this year; 8 inches yesterday, 10 today, plus minus 20-30 below temps (and I don't mean wind chill!) so am jealous of you guys in the warm west. I go on the Navigator, but not 'til March. Will I survive? Ellen
ricko1 Posted January 21, 2005 #10 Share Posted January 21, 2005 We are so glad to be here in sunny, warm Arizona. We have had enough of winter to last us a life time. You will survive. Just close your eyes and pretend you are on a ship in the Caribbean drinking BBC's by the pool. ;)
