Ship Time vs Local Time

Recommended Posts

Can anybody who has just returned from a simliar itinerary help me?

We are sailing out of Miami on April 18th on Liberty. I just booked an excursion in Cozumel based on the time it shows we are in port on the itinerary (7-4). I got an email back from the vendor of the excursion saying that the ship leaves at 3:00pm, as the time on the itinerary is the ship time, which stays eastern. If this is the case my already shortened excursion (it leaves a few hours after the ship arrives) is even shorter to account for this time change.

I was under the impression from our last RCL cruise (which also went to Cozumel) that they adjust to the local time.

The cruise also goes to Grand Cayman, Belize and Costa Maya and I want to make sure that when I am booking excursions I am not going to get messed up with what hours we are actually in what port.

Help!!

We just completed a cruise on the Granduer. It was Tampa-Cozumel-Tampa. The ship stayed on eastern time, meaning that our our docking time which was 7am-7pm was actual Tampa time. The local time was 6am-6pm so we had to get back to the ship no later than 5:30pm local time. We booked our own excursion and when we received our confirmation, the company told us that they were booking us according to the local time. So our 10am start actually meant 11am ship time.

I've been to Cozumel 4 times in the last 2 years, 3 times we changed from Eastern to match local time and the last time we stayed on Eastern. Hopefully your tour operator will understand if your are on/not on local time. Just make sure you are on ship's time:D, that's the only one you have to have correct!!
