Zeno Posted January 19, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2005 Do any ships tender at Calica? How many can dock there at one time ?
TNtraveler Posted January 20, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2005 The port area is relatively small -- can maybe handle two ships at one. I'd guess if a ship is using tenders, it would do so from directly off of Playa del Carmen, since that's going to be most passengers' destination. There is literally nothing to see and do (besides a few dockside vendors) at Calica. I've read reports of ships tendering at PdC.
Zeno Posted January 20, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted January 20, 2005 Thx for info. We are considering a cruise for 2006 (NCL Sun). PDC is listed as one of the ports but elsewhere it says Calica. It also seems to indicate that the ship will be at anchor rather than docking. Hopefully all will become clearer before I book. (I would prefer to minimize tendering). TNtraveler Posted February 13, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2005 Well, if Calica is mentioned, I'd bet on docking. No other reason to visit it.
