We2Cruzers Posted February 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2010 We are thinking of booking a verandah cabin on the Veendam and was wondering if anyone who has sailed on this ship would have a recommendation. Of course there are personal preferences - but we'd love one that has the advantage of being quiet (so not under a disco or moving deck chairs) and not too high up (to avoid extra movement). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
jtl513 Posted February 12, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2010 All verandah cabins on the S class ships are high up - Navigation deck or Verandah deck. The ones on the Verandah Deck are below other cabins. You might consider a cabin on the Lower Promenade deck so that you have the promenade as a "public verandah" not far away, but don't book one under the galley, show lounge, or the Wajang theater. gregdude Posted February 12, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2010 If I were going for a verandah cabin on the Veendam I think I'd be looking at the BA category on the verandah deck. The B category cabins are over the casino and Mix/Bar areas where music is loud and could be a noise problem in the evening. I think I would stay away from the A category on the navigation deck because of all the activity in the Lido just above as well as ship movement toward the aft of the ship. I would certainly stay away from cabins on the verandah deck forward because they are directly over the show lounge.
