Cerviche

Can anyone tell me if Palmar, Dzul Ha or Pancho's have cerviche on their menus? If not, can anyone recommend another place. I am dying for a good cerviche! Thanks

Punta Morena's ceviche is to die for!!! Delicious with an ice cold Sol cerveza and a great appetizer leading up to fresh lobster.

 

Punta Morena is on the eastside of the island.

On the east side, mescalitos had pretty good shrimp ceviche, but in town the restaurant "La Conchita del Caribe" had the best conch ceviche. Mmmm Actually, they had the ONLY conch ceviche is Cozumel when we were there in December. Seems conch isn't available in Cozumel that time of year. The other dishes we saw looked good too. Prices were quite reasonable. It is on my list to visit next time I visit. You will need to take a taxi to get there. It is on 65th Ave around calle 21 south (I think).

I don't mean to ask a dumb question but......What is cerviche?

I gather it is some kind of fish or seafood dish...is this correct? I see it mentioned alot on this board...so I was just wondering what it is. :)

Ceviche/Serviche - think Mexican sushi.

 

Raw fish, shellfish, etc, marinated in lime juice + some other stuff as a marinade. The lime juice "cooks" the fish.

Yah, it is kind of like a salsa with fish, shrimp or shellfish. Lime juice, and usually chopped tomatoes, onions, and cilantro.
