MTL=CRUISEFAMILY Posted February 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2010 From what I have read recently it seems the Poesia is not stopping at PLAYA DEL CARMEN, but opting for Cozumel instead, since it is not a long port time, do any recent cruisers suggest any beaches over others or sights? thanks in advance
smitty1952 Posted February 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2010 If you want to go to Playa, they have a tender and if book a tour thru MSC they will hold the ship till the group gets back. thats what they did last week when it was about 30 min. late. pctravler Posted February 17, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2010 Take a 10.00 taxi to chankanaab park and take snorkel gear with you. It is an incredible state park to enjoy for the day.
Sinjin Posted February 17, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 17, 2010 I highly recommend a tour of the back side of the island. Ask to go to the Bob Marley Bar and to Coconuts. That side of the island is absolutely stunning.
woodofpine Posted February 19, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 19, 2010 I highly recommend a tour of the back side of the island. Ask to go to the Bob Marley Bar and to Coconuts. That side of the island is absolutely stunning. I agree with the above post. The west side where San Migual is located is heavily developed (nice and active mind you - but developed). The east side has beautiful beaches too, is undeveloped and laid back with some famous tequila enfused beach bars. Just south of Coconuts Restaurant (1/4 mi. beach walk) is Chen Rio beach which is a local favorite that has a small peninsular natural rock breakwater that keeps the beach placid on more surf up days (goog for kids). There's a sandy beach bar purveyor there too; but Coconuts up on its bluff overlooking that azure water is worth the walk; great food and drink, usually a Mariachi band playing. Taxis ply this road constantly. You'll have no trouble getting a ride (fares are regulated well; the cabbies are good guys generally).
