Best Beach

We spent that better part of a day here at Smugglers Cove. It is a little bit of a ride but you get to see some of the island. You can rent chairs and umbrellas here. There is also a beach bar and restaurant. It is beautiful. Not crowded at all. We talked to a couple of people that went to Long Bay that day and they said that it was packed there.

mnbruce,

Where all those terrific photos were takan?

They were taken on the beautiful Long Bay beach. I should specify it is the west Long Bay,as there is also a east Long Bay on the other end of the island.

We rented a car for the day and just roamed around checking out the sites and meeting the locals. We came across this beach and spent some time hanging out and taking a nice walk. There were two ships in port, including our 3,000 passenger Princess ship but there was only one other couple from the ships there. We walked the beach which is probably 3/4 of a mile long and probably only passed 30 people. I guess anything is possible but I find it hard to believe this beach is ever very crowded since it only has parking for about five cars ,the only bathrooms are at a resort about 5-7 minutes away on foot, which is also the only place to get a bite to eat. There is a entrepreneur named Nature Boy who has a stand on the beach to get refreshments, beer and soda with a little hard liquor.

After we left there we stopped at Cane Garden Bay beach for lunch. Nice beach for swimming but there were hundreds of people from the cruise ships there.

We went to Brewer's Bay when we were in Tortola. It was beautiful and fairly quiet. The rocks stick out into the water a little over half way down the beach from the parking lot and restaurant area and if you climb over the rocks, the beach on the other side is empty.
