Packing Question???

What is the least amount of clothing you've taken for a 10 day with 2 formal nights?:confused: I always overpack and hubs gets mad....I want to succeed this time and go light.... :rolleyes:

Last August, my suitcase, fully packed for a 12 night Med cruise plus 4 nights on land (pre/post cruise) with clothing for 3 formal nights, weighed 42 lbs.:)

I did not take a carry-on just a shoulder bag with our medications, documents, passports, etc.

That's the best I have done so far.

Try to have more mix/match tops and skirts for dinners and formal nights.

Same with shorts/tops and swim wear. I usually tend to over pack too, so I am going to mix and match everything! And going a little more casual for formal night, I'll have once nice outfit and either wear it twice or use the best combo of top/skirt.

 

Always remember: take half the clothes and twice the money :cool:

I wore the same dress for the formal nights (floor length black) but had different jackets to wear over it so it had a different look each time.

 

In addition, I took one pair black pants and one long black skirt; had various tops that I wore with these including some sleeveless tops that I paired with cardigan shawls. If a top is too heavy I don't pack it.

 

Daytime: two pair of capris, two sun protection shirts, 4 sleeveless tops and 2 tee shirts.

 

Did some handwashing as we went along and sent a few things into the laundry.

 

One bathing suit.

One pair of shorts for days onboard.

Two pair of lightweight jogging pants (wore to fly as well) and three tops to wear around the ship and later in the evenings in the casino. Jacket that matched one of the jogging pants for cooler days or nights.

PJs, undies, socks and hosiery, pair of crocs, flat dress shoes and pair of dress sandals.

Two small evening purses - one formal; the other more casual.

Couple of hats and I think that is it.

Find out if your ship has a laundry for passengers. When we did a B2B last year we both only took a carry-on each and a garmet bag. I washed everything half way into the cruise. It is VERY expensive if you have the ship do your laundry!

And who is going to remember you wore those same shorts or dress 2 or 3 days ago? My husband brings 2 or3 dockers - who will know he wore the same ones the previous night? I do bring two bathing siuts so one is always dry. I wear shorts over bathing suit so I don't have to bring 7 different tops, or a sundress/coverup. I bring sandles for day time, low heels for evenings and watershoes for the beach - shoes can get heavy when you have some for each outfit- mine are white, goes wilth everything!

Why do you need two purses? Mine stays in the safe the entire cruise. I carry my sign 'n sail card in my pocket. If I don't have a pocket it goes in top of my bra. Or, my husband carries anything I need in his pocket. I do have a small carryall (from NCL) that books & suntan lotion go in for the day time to sun and relax on a deck.

The ship you're going on may not have a formal/tux/evening dress night. NCL has optional formal night and Carnival now has cruise elegance. If you want to dress up fine. If you don't, fine too.

But, we still tend to bring a thing or two we don't wear!
