Cheapest and best are sometimes mutually exclusive, but in this case any legitimate cab will do. 10 minute ride. Make sure that you have all your documentation in hand, because there is a security gate that the cab must stop at and all passengers must show their ppwk to the guard in order to access the pier area.

i think you must clarify if you are going to the pier in Miami or the one in Fort Lauderdale. what ship? the Century is docked at Miami Pier.

Well, assuming you are looking at the pier in Fort Lauderdale, I'll ditto everyone's recommendation for a taxi.

It's quick, efficient, inexpensive and easy peasy.

Don't be too hasty! If you are in town the day before your cruise (enjoyable to do anyway since you can make your way to the ship at a leasurely pace on the morning you board), rent a car at the airport using Air Miles (about 325 for the day) plus about $12 US in taxes at the airport. Next morning return the car to the airport and take the free car rental shuttle bus to the pier - sweet deal!
