Drive to Negril

What is the drive like from Montego Bay to Negril? Is it up and down on a mountain or hills? Or is it mostly regular road with LAND on either side of the road?

It's a tiny bit windy, but you're not high up in the mountains. The scariest thing can be how fast they drive! (but isn't that the case in some many places?) It's nothing compared to the roads on mountainous Dominica or St. Lucia.

P.S. If you have the time for Negril, do it. It's such a beautiful part of Jamaica and 7 mile beach is so gorgeous.

As of right now, that is our plan. I am so excited and I am reading that Negril is really the place to go in Jamaica. Is Rick's Cafe close to the Margaritaville? I really want to go there as well.

It really is, but it is generally a great place for a land based vacation, just because there isn't a cruise ship port there and it's a bit of a drive to/from MoBay.

Margarittaville is about half way along 7 mile beach, which is a beautiful spot to be. I have walked by it, but didn't stop to eat/drink there.

Rick's is quite aways further, along the cliffs, which is past the beach. We didn't go there. Pirates Caves was as far as we went by vehicle, and by catamaran. The rocky cliffs are also beautiful.

So you're looking at about 10 miles apart? Google Negril map and there's one with all the resorts and restaurants listed.

Time for us to go back to Negril... loved it... got married there :)

Are you taking a cruise ship excursion or private tour? I'd just want to be careful not to cut your time to close in case you were to hit traffic on the road back.
