jaredcoreymama Posted February 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2010 I have heard that you can take a bus to Dolphin Discovery. I will be on Freedom of the Seas. Where do I catch the bus? How often does it come? How much is it? Do I need quarters?
drew sailbum Posted February 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2010 Dolphin Discovery is across the road from Boatswain's Beach (aka the Turtle Farm. The main bus depot is on North Church Street in George Town, quite close to the docks the tender boats use. Turn left as you exit the terminal and walk along the waterfront (the sea will be to your left). The depot is on the inland side of the road just past the yellow Waterfront Centre building. Take the WB (West Bay) bus. There is a route 1 or route 2, but I believe either one go past Dolphin Discovery and Boatswain's Bay. Just ask the driver. Buses are large passenger vans. You pay only when you get off the bus. Fare should be CI$2 (US$2.50) per person for that trip. Change from small bills is routinely given. Change will likely be only in local Cayman currency. There is no timetable. Buses are independently owned, but licensed by the government. They only very loosely stick to a route. Buses to West Bay should quite frequent with cruise ships in port. For the return trip you can flag down a bus anywhere at the side of the road.
