Jaap Stam Posted March 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2010 Hello everyone, I am in Barbados this April and thinking about hiring a car to explore the island independently. There are only two of us, so a small car would be fine. Can anybody recommend a car rental agency with which s/he had a good experience? What are the prices I have to calculate with? I am having a German driving license. Will this be sufficient or do I need any other documents? What about an insurance covering theft of damage? Do you recommend it? Thank you for your help! barbadosguru Posted March 9, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2010 You will need a Barbados Drivers Permit for each driver at 10 BDS$ each You will be charged for a CDW. You should be a aware that most ( if not all ) car rental companies will want a cash deposit or CC details if you decline their CDW. Even if you have your own insurance you will still be liable for an excess or the whole damage amount if you don't take their cover This varies from company to company ...best thing is to call/email them for precise details. I would recommend HJH services, Rent-A-Zoom or Stoutes Car Rental.. $1US = $2BDS
Johnthed0g Posted March 9, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2010 Difficult to advise on this site they don't like us to be specific for some reason, but look at some websites to get an idea. BDS car hire is quite expensive especially for short periods, I think you would be better off with a good taxi tour.
