Jade13 Posted March 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2010 We will be back in Bar Harbor the first week of September (Maasdam) and have been there several times before (by land) as Aunt & Uncle had been renting a house there for years. Over the years we have done many hikes at various locations. There are always hikes lead by park rangers for free. My DH does not want to rent a car so my questions are, (1) is there an online link to the Bar Harbor weekly paper that lists the ranger hikes, and (2) is there public transportation and/or what is our best option for getting to/from town where our ship tenders to various locations in Acadia? Additionally, we have been to Jordon Pond House which we enjoyed, perhaps one option would be to go there and do some trails around the house. http://www.nps.gov/acad/ (I found this link) Thanks. Thanks. Here's a link to the free bus to Acadia. It leaves from the village green which seems to be easily walkable from where the tenders come in. http://www.exploreacadia.com There are several different routes and one does go to Jordan Pond
tully07 Posted March 26, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 26, 2010 You might get more information if you post your question on the "Ports of Call - New England" thread. Lovely as the area around Bar Harbor is, it isn't in Canada, and locals from that area may check that thread on a regular basis to provide the information you are seeking. Enjoy your cruise! Good point! It is the only US port on our cruise so I forgot.
