pieshops Posted March 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2010 We will be on the sprit at the end of the month and can really afford to do one of these 2 excursions. the zipine and cavetubing are in Belize and the banana plantation and waterfall are in Guatamala. There are 3 adults and 2 kids ages 10 and 5 coming, although the 5 year old will probably not do the zipline. What are your thoughts if you have done these 2 tours? thanks

flashdog_1 Posted March 13, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2010 The excursions are really 180° apart! Cave tubing and zip lining are adventurous, while visiting a waterfall and banana plantation, although probably beautiful, are pretty tame. Which one appeals to you most? I would think the former would cost 3x as much as the latter, but haven't checked. Many people are choosing to stay on the ship in Santo Tomas if they don't speak Spanish. If this is your choice (that is if you choose cave tubing and zip lining) at least get up way early to see the ship come into port to see the glorious scenery. It may be dark when you leave so you won't be able to see much then. Have you explored ALL the options for tours? There's no shame in changing your mind! Many people recommend the Rio Dulce private tour out of Santo Tomas/Livingston which is across the Amatique Bay (see the boards there for tour operator recommendations) for natural beauty.
