Just returned from our first cruise (we were aboard the Legend -GREAT experience. Review to follow in a few days).

My boyfriend fell head over heels in love with the warm fig, date and cinnamon cake with rum raisin ice cream. I have done some searches but can't seem to find a recipe. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

OMG! I LOVE those fig cakes. On our last cruise, I ordered two or three every night. I would save them for breakfast the next morning. (Not the ice cream, though.)

In my opinion, they are much, much better than the chocolate melting cake.

I would also love the recipe.

I now love them too! Avoided them for many years cuz they sounded 'weird'....but then after having tasted everything else I tried it one night and was hooked! Now I make sure everyone I am with orders one! :D:D (and then they also become 'converts'!).

Still have not managed to have the bitter and blanc tho - I know people rave about it as well (was hoping to have it on my last cruise but turns out we were in the suipper club the evening it was served!).

Hi there - hope you find the recipe. It was sort of a hot cinnamon muffin with figs & dates in it. DH loved it, and I had a taste -- it was great!!!

How much does this make?

The baking time is short, so in small pans?

Yes, the cooking time is short. I plan to make it soon using little loaf pans, or those great big muffin tins would be really great. It was a very moist cake, if you remember, sort of a warm, cloud of flavors, densely flavored, but light. will try their recommendation for 15 minutes, but will cook longer if necessary.
