F22Smitty Posted March 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2010 Free $$ play, drinks, cruise discounts, etc???? We have gotten drinks but that's it. Make friends with the casino host/hostess and they come easier.
SCUBA Mark Posted March 16, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2010 Free $$ play, drinks, cruise discounts, etc???? We have gotten 50% point credit towards earning $10 and 1 free drink. We usually get a letter in our cabin a few days into the cruise that says take this letter to the Casino Manager to get the perks. Sometimes we get the letter and sometimes we don't Mark

Chris64 Posted March 16, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 16, 2010 A friend that was cruising with us once won big (several thousand) at the video poker games and the casino manager sent a bottle of wine to our dinner table. I don't get it though, if you win big, you can afford your own bottle of wine, it's us poor losers that need the free bottle!

BC Todd Posted March 16, 2010 #10 Share Posted March 16, 2010 We got an email after our last cruise telling us we will have a welcome bottle of bubbly, drink coupons and photo coupons waiting for us in our stateroom in December. We did gamble a bit, but pretty much broke even for the week...:)
arush5268d Posted March 16, 2010 #11 Share Posted March 16, 2010 And do they consider these drinks FREE???? He almost earned himself a divorce out of the whole situation! The drinks were but a small token of Carnival's appreciation of his gambling debt. On the plus side though - he helped to offset Carnival's profit loss from my smuggling. Yeah well, then the joke was on the Casino manager, because he didn't drink, we shared his bottle of wine for him.
David-n-Rita Posted March 16, 2010 #15 Share Posted March 16, 2010 We got a card a month ago from Carnival Cruise lines for a free 4 day stay at the Venetian in Las Vegas courtesy of Carnival Cruise lines casino. We thought is might be a gimmick so we flew to Las Vegas with back up arrangements just in case. It was legit, they said the player club on Carnival is outsourced to the same company that owns the Venetian and Palazzo casinos so by gambling in the casinos on the ship we got the offer. We stayed in a beautiful suite in the Venetian for 4 days free. Thanks Carnival

The airfare alone was over $800. We called to verify it was legit and it was like you said but just couldn't afford the airfare. Maybe next time. When you hit 1000 points you are automatically registered. On my last cruise I got several drinks from the pit bosses whom we had sailed with before on other ships when they were dealers. We also got a couple of free drinks from the Casino Host and one from the Casino Manager. On the last night on the cruise, the Casino Host gave us a couple of shirts and a bag. It is not that we gambled a good bit as I only lost $20 for the week, it is the fact we got to know the employees. Dave

BooBooMonkey Posted March 17, 2010 #25 Share Posted March 17, 2010 Free drinks are few and far between on cruises. Not like a land-based (Vegas) casino at all. I am a slot player (card in), and DH plays mostly low-limit blackjack. I usually get the $10 for 1000 points at least once, sometimes twice depending on the length of the cruise. We received the Venetian/Palazzo offer last year and went in September. It is the real deal, but Vegas is NOT like a cruise (you have to pay for everything else plus airfare). Last cruise, hit "big" on a couple of slots. The casino hostess came and sat with me for a bit and we chatted, I got a couple comped drinks. What was really weird is that she kept saying, "Take your money HOME with you." As in, stop putting more money into these machines. To this day I can't figure out why she was telling me that. I did end up bringing home more than I put in that trip! In the past, we signed up ahead of time and we've had the letter for 500 points and a free drink waiting in the cabin the first night. This time, we're signed up with the players club and have been promised a "deluxe bon voyage package" in our cabin upon arrival. I've read many varied accounts of what the "deluxe bon voyage package" entails, but I've heard things like a bottle of wine, fruit basket, chocolate covered strawberries, photo coupons, big water bottles, or some combination of the above. We shall see in less than 2 weeks! Happy cruising and good luck to all. Boo
